GenCon canceled on account of Dumb I had decided that saying goodbye to Agiel wasn't as important as getting in two days of GenCon, and drove off, a bit late, but that's to be expected. About 120 miles outside of Indianapolis, I stopped to take a leak at Burger King and was about to 'get my burger on' (as the kids say) and I realized that I had $0 and no credit card. I had apparently also forgotten my phone. So, sad as could be, I climbed back into my little red car and headed north on I-65 (the ugliest of the local interstates) and ended up back here, at my desk, doing laundry.
The good news is that I'll be going to Denmark on Wednesday, which is awesome. | | Saturday, July 26th, 2008 | | 1:30 am |
Dang Nerds can make anything into a nerd reference:
Me: Ugh, I think I breached my warp core.
Agiel: I'd better get into the Jefferies tubes.
Me: Trust me, you don't want to. I'm venting plasma.
The lesson? Don't talk to me if I'm on the toilet. | | Saturday, July 12th, 2008 | | 12:53 pm |

I killed Jesse Helms. For years I've been nightly thinking of a list of people that should spontaneously die, and this is the second time it's killed someone. You know, I really hope that he's right and there is a God and a Heaven and all that junk, because that means that he'll actually get to have the moment of clarity that he deserves, being transformed into a rooster and raped by different incarnations of himself through out the ages before past-him satisfies his other urges by fucking Helmschicken to death with a hammer, and I'll smile without really knowing why. | | Monday, June 16th, 2008 | | 9:01 am |

Post Chiditarod (Sabotage Crew) We did sabotage for the Windy City Rollers' Chiditarod teams today and no violence ensued, though apparently there were stories told by the participants about our team's antics: ziptying myself to a moving shopping cart, pushing a dumpster into the path of an oncoming team, etc.
Cameron asked me what my 10 favorite videos were (I did something to spur this question on, I just don't remember what) and so here, in numerical preferential sequence, are my 10 favorite videos (that I can remember). Many of these fall outside of my area of musical preference, but since most of the bands I have loved don't really have many (good) videos, I have to make due with videos that I enjoyed sometimes despite their music.
#10 Aphex Twin's Come to Daddy
#9 Powerman 5000's Bombshell
#8 Shakira's Whenever Whenever
#7 Rancid's Salvation
#6 Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit
#5 R.E.M.'s Everybody Hurts
#4 Beastie Boys' Intergalactic
#3 Rammstein's Ich Will
#2 Beastie Boys' Sabotage
#1 Guns & Roses' Welcome to the Jungle
#0 Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up | | Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 | | 2:25 pm |
Nerd Porn The video is somewhat lacking, but the sentiment and turn of phrase are both fantastic.

Mwahahahaa! Already three people have fallen into the grip of my MMO addiction. With a mere promise of glory and a 14 day free trial, I have, like the phoenix, risen from my unsubscribed ashes to kick ass again.
So, anyone who wants to give City of Villains a try for free, drop me a comment or an email and I'll send you details. | | Friday, November 30th, 2007 | | 9:56 am |
What about the children?! So, you may have heard, but in Sudan there's this British lady who is being put in jail and then deported after allowing her 7 & 8 year old Sudanese students to name a classroom teddy bear Muhammad. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071130/ap_on_re_af/sudan_british_teacherOriginally she was to be given 40 lashes, then imprisoned and then deported. Watch Jesus Christ Superstar to see what 40 lashes does to a person and then multiply that by reality. So they decided to be lenient and just give her the jail time and deportation. This apparently made thousands of Sudanese very angry as they marched on the President of Sudan's palace with weapons chanting 'Kill her, kill her by firing squad'. My question is: What about the children? Unlike the British teacher, they have been educated and raised within this culture that takes such blasphemies seriously. She made her decision out of ignorance, they made theirs in spite of all they new. Why aren't the 7 & 8 year olds being executed, or given 40 lashes and a prison sentence? | | Saturday, November 10th, 2007 | | 2:13 pm |
Your help is needed! Next Saturday (17th) I'll be participating in the mini-gaming equivalent of a walk-a-thon where we'll be contributing canned goods to a local food bank. I'm looking to you to scour your kitchens and pantries for any cans that have gone unopened or unused to increase the amount Kevin and myself will be able to donate. Unlike a walk-a-thon, your donations can actually help us win, so buck up and donate! Feel free to drop cans off at my house, or either Kevin or I can pick them up from your house (most likely next weekend). Either post here or email me to make arrangements.
Thanks in advance. | | Thursday, November 1st, 2007 | | 5:35 pm |
Bush loses war- Godwin's Law cited Bush tells Dems war denial is dangerousBy JENNIFER LOVEN, Associated Press Writer 22 minutes ago ( Read Article Behind Cut )What stands out in my mind is the line: "History teaches us that underestimating the words of evil, ambitious men is a terrible mistake" Seriously. I don't think I've agreed with Bush before, but I 100% stand behind that statement. Unfortunately for him, I include him in the category "evil, ambitious men". The bulk of the statement he made translates to "Come on, buy my bullshit! I'm getting so sick of being called on all of my underhanded little schemes. GOD! You need to shut the fuck up and give me the money I want to spread war and destruction so that the blood of our poor and that of foreigners can oil the gears of commerce. You need to relax and let me and my lackeys torture people so that we can catch bad guys who torture people. Speaking of lackeys, stop butting into my appointment of people. I have the right to put any shit-for-brains that I please into any office I please. You people need to stop listening to the American public and listen to the generals I choose for you to listen to and also me. COME ON! WAAAAAAH!" That stupid fuck. Why hasn't anyone shot him yet? Don't the Christians love martyrs? Ooo, kitties! | | Friday, October 26th, 2007 | | 6:43 pm |
Lookie what I built! I'm overflowing with an obscene amount of pride about the thing I built today. I think every librarian we know needs one. | | Friday, October 12th, 2007 | | 5:52 pm |
Do you take the bus/train? If you live in or around Chicago or visit every once in a while (I'm looking at you Californians [Brian]), you know how important the bus and trains can be. People, from crack-whores to lawyer-whores use the bus/train every day to get to their drab meaningless jobs and back, so there's no reason why you haven't already sent emails to the state government about getting funding for the CTA. Sure, I know that the CTA is a horrid pile of dogshit, but it's an essential horrid pile of dogshit that makes the world a slightly better place by removing the cars of the people who can afford not to ride it and providing rides to jobs for people who can't afford cars. So, maybe I'm a little bitter about the CTA. I still understand that it's necessary. This is why I encourage you, my (very few) readers and friends, to go to http://www.savechicagolandtransit.com/ and click on the big picture at the top that says "Public Transit in Chicagoland is endangered." Pick one of the two ways to let the Illinois rich folks what deal with budgetary issues know what's what. Feel free to add in information detailing how they're fuckholes for making this be a problem so long after it should have been solved. That's it. Now I go to dinner with Cameron and her grandparents. | | Tuesday, September 18th, 2007 | | 11:53 pm |
